On behalf of The Rotaract Club of Grand Cayman, we would like to thank the Walkers Law Firm Charity Committee for sponsoring our Brown Paper Bag Project!
This generous donation will be used to purchase lunches for an average of 20 clients of the Department of Community Rehabilitation, who is a part of the mental health court system in the Cayman Islands. On the evening prior to court, Members of RCGC meet to decorate bags with inspirational messages and pack lunches.
Some clients do not have access to a healthy meal on regular basis, so each month these lunches are delivered to the Department of Rehabilitation for distribution at court.

Welcome to 2015 - 2016!
I would like to give you all a warm welcome to the Rotary year 2015 - 2016. First of all, allow me to introduce myself, my name is Hov.. Actually its just Matt. As this year's president, I have the pleasure of serving the community and our Rotaract Club of Grand Cayman or as we call it RCGC. The first thing I would like to do is introduce our Rotaract Board for the year.As we start this new year, I would like to take a step back and look at the achievements of our past year such as School Supply-A-Thon, Brown Paper Bag Project, Meals On Wheels, Beach Clean Ups, and so many more... I look forward to continuing our annual projects:School Supply-A-Thon,which has gotten off to a great start thanks to the gracious donation from Appleby! This year we aim to raise funds to donate to the Department of Children and Family Services, which will ensure students can have the necessary tools to learn and become better students.Brown Paper Bag, which each month takes a meal to the Mental Health Court ensuring the attendees have at least one healthy meal with a positive message attached. We are off to a fast start within the club as well; our annual boat cruise We On A Boat is scheduled for July 19th, the registration is open for Rotarians, Rotaractors, and Guests! Our Bi-Annual Club Survey has already kicked off and will close on July 18th with a Club Forum. This organization is built on hard work, bringing out the best of ourselves, the desire to do better every time, and of course, fun...which we plan on having a lot of! A friend and amazing Rotaractor by the name of David Postic said "If you're not having fun you, you shouldn't be doing it." So let's go out, have fun and have an amazing Rotaract year!

January's packing party for the Brown Paper Bag project, was held at VP Matthew's house. The team of Rotaractors, as usual, coloured a and decorated the bags and then packed them with the lunch items. The following day, Wednesday 21 January, Director Pierre delivered the lunches to the Department of Community Rehabilitation for distribution later that day at the court. Lunches provided by RCGC go towards the clients of the Mental Health court every month for their compliance with the courts.

RCGC Training Day
On Saturday 17 January, Director Rosie planned an exciting day full of team building activities to strengthen the cohesiveness of RCGC members. The morning began with a power hour with the board members which allowed each person to identify their leadership personalities. This was followed by lunch as members of the club arrived for the evening portion of the day. After our bellies were filled, the rest of the afternoon consisted of group work, trust exercises and brainstorming activities. The day allowed us to reflect on our strengths and weaknesses as a club and as individuals. After training, the group moved to the informal portion of the day for happy hour at Sidebar, enjoying drinks, nibbles and each other's company.

"Brown Paper Bag" Project
The ‘Brown Paper Bag’ was first used by The Department of Community Rehabilitation (DCR) in 2010 to help assist those with mental health issues who are before the Mental Health Court by providing an incentive. Due to lack of funding and resources at times, DCR hasn't always been able to provide the incentive and thus the Rotaract Club of Grand Cayman (RCGC) has agreed to take over and continue this initiative.

Forty Years of Service to the Global Community
Dear Sir,
Every year, World Rotaract Week honors the chartering of the first club in North Carolina, USA, on 13 March 1968. This week, we celebrate 40 years of service to our global community.
Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women ages 18 to 30. Rotaract clubs are either community or university based, and are sponsored by a local Rotary club. This makes us true "partners in service" and key members of the family of Rotary. As one of Rotary's most significant and fastest-growing service programs, with more than 7,000 clubs in about 163 countries and geographical areas, Rotaract has become a worldwide phenomenon.
For the first time in the history of our islands, the Cayman Islands boasts two successful, thriving Rotaract Clubs - the Rotaract Club of Grand Cayman (sponsored by the Rotary Sunrise) and Rotaract Blue, Cayman Islands (sponsored by Rotary Central).
Distict Conference 2008 Update

Lighthouse (Our First Major Project)
The Lighthouse School, which caters to children with special educational needs, (SEN) is seeking additional aid from the general public for its school trip to Disney World. According to Deputy Principal, Olga Gourzon, the school wants to do something special for its students and a trip to Disney World is very appealing to them.
"This is an opportunity that the children would not otherwise get, due to their social background," Mrs Gourzon said.
According to the school's officials, they need to raise at least $30,000, but funds are slow in coming.
Honorary Sergeant Raises Funds For Rotaract Club
Rotary Sunrise invited Rotaractor Matthew Seales to be Honorary Sergeant at their breakfast meeting last week and he did a great job, the organisation said.
All Rotary clubs have Sergeants - a post where the individual appointed helps to control the meetings and often has a short session at the end of each meeting where he 'fines' members if they are late, if they take cell phone calls, forget their badges, if they are mentioned in the media or for a host of other reasons.
