On Friday 18th November a group of Rotaractors from the Rotaract Club of Grand Cayman donated blood at the George Town Public Hospital Blood Bank. These efforts were made in support of an ‘Island-Wide Blood Drive’ the Rotaract Club of Saint Andrew in Jamaica hosted this past weekend.

The aim of the drive was to collect 200 units of blood between the Rotaract Club of Grand Cayman and the Rotaract Clubs of Saint Andrew, Montego Bay, Savanna-la-Mar and Mandeville in Jamaica. The Rotaract Club of Grand Cayman came on board with the initiative after learning the benefits and importance of donating blood. The group of Rotaractors consisted of both existing and first time donors. Those who had donated for the first time are now confident that they will become regular blood donors and are excited to continue giving the gift of life.

“Blood cannot be manufactured; it can only come from volunteer donors from the community. One pint of blood can save up to three lives,” said Community Service Director Andrea Balderamos. “The Rotaract Club of Grand Cayman wants to encourage everyone who can do, to donate blood; it is literally in you to give! The potential to save lives is both gratifying and humbling.”
