Rotary International has been concentrating on leadership training for service in the various Rotary clubs across the world.

The organisation recently organised some high-powered courses attended by several members of the Grand Cayman Rotary Sunrise.

In a release from Rotary Sunrise it states that intensive learning sessions recently took place in Florida. The training involved Rotary leadership educators teaching Rotarians leadership skills to better assist them in the administration of their clubs. These sessions were aimed at improving Rotary knowledge and leadership skills of club leaders so that they can then train future Rotary club leaders.

Past District Governor and Rotary Sunrise member Alastair Paterson, current Rotary Sunrise President Rosie Jamieson and current Rotary Sunrise Secretary Michael Levitt graduated from the Rotary Leadership course.

The recently planned leadership training session for the Rotaract Club of Grand Cayman was the first in a similar type of training exercise. Over 20 Rotaract members met with their sponsor club - Rotary Sunrise at the Marriott Hotel, for an intensive course commencing with breakfast and ending with a late lunch on Saturday 4, August.

The Rotaract members were a keen and enthusiastic audience, mostly young professionals. With knowledge of the basics, this event gave them the opportunity of honing skills and exploring new leadership territory. All in attendance enjoyed the sessions and it is hoped that a series of carefully planned classes will continue later this year.

The Rotaract Club of Grand Cayman is for young people between 18 and 30 years old interested in serving in the community. They meet at Harvey's Island Grill, 55 South Church Street, Grand Cayman for 7:00 am breakfast every Thursday morning.
