As in most parts of the world, domestic abuse and sexual violence is a real problem here in the Cayman Islands. Unlike a lot of places the Cayman community is working to put an end to the problem here.

The Cayman Islands Crisis Centre (CICC) is a locally run charitable company that was established in early 2003. The primary mandate is to provide a safe haven for abused women and their children. The CICC acknowledges that domestic abuse is a violation of an individuals' human rights, and is not just a problem that effects the persons directly involved but also their families and the community. Everyone deserves the right to live a life free of violence. CICC is dedicated to seeing an end to this horrific crime and through our services and programmes we hope to educate the community in order to prevent domestic abuse. Anyone wanting more information on the CICC or wanting to help by making a donation, please call 345-949-0366. The first Director of the CICC, Estella Scott-Roberts was brutally murdered on 10 October 2008.
