As part of the drive to keep the roads of Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac free from alcohol-impaired drivers over the festive season, the Cayman Islands Road Safety Advisory Committee (CIRSAC) has launched their anti-drunk driving poster campaign. Their message is very simple: "Take a taxi home."

With the cooperation of taxi companies AA transportation, Ace Cayman Nice, Burdonjay's, Burton's, Charlie's, Crown's and Holiday on Grand Cayman, and Cayman Brac Taxi, CIRSAC is urging people who are likely to indulge over the coming holidays to leave their cars at home.

Posters outlining the message and listing the telephone numbers of the participating taxi companies are being distributed throughout the islands.

The poster is backed up by a business card sized reminder, which also has all the relevant phone numbers.

As a final warning, CIRSAC has produced a laminated notice to be placed in restrooms. It reads, "You again?

I hope you're not driving!"

CIRSAC member Aileen Samuel says there is absolutely no excuse for drunk driving over the holiday period.

"The taxi services cooperating in this initiative will be open for business throughout the holidays, including Christmas Day," she said.

Ms Samuel also took the opportunity to thank the Caribbean Utilities Company (CUC) for renewing its annual support for the programme plus Appleby and Kirk's Office Equipment for their support this year.

She said that CIRSAC is always grateful for corporate support for its road safety projects and invited companies who want to add their names to the list of organisations promoting local road safety to contact them.
