The Brown Paper Bag Project is a monthly-ongoing initiative that began in 2012 in collaboration with the Department of Community Rehabilitation. Every month members pack brown paper bag lunches for clients of DCR who are a part of the mental health court system in the Cayman Islands. The Department approached the Club to fund and to provide volunteers to ready the lunches. Team RCGC was more than delighted to help and with over a year of the project being established, the Club is looking forward to more years of working with DCR. The Brown Paper Bag Project provides lunches for about 18 to 21 clients every month, some who do not have access to a healthy meal on regular basis. Each lunch consists of a hot sandwich or patty, a fruit snack, chips, an apple, and juice. Members meet on the evening prior to court to decorate bags with inspirational messages and pack lunches. These packed lunches are then delivered to the Department for distribution at court.
