Brown Paper Bag

The Brown Paper Bag Project is a monthly-ongoing initiative that began in 2012 in collaboration with the Department of Community Rehabilitation.  Every month members pack brown paper bag lunches for clients of DCR who are a part of the mental health court system in the Cayman Islands.  The Department approached the Club to fund and to provide volunteers to ready the lunches.  Team RCGC was more than delighted to help and with over a year of the project being established, the Club is looking forward to more years of working with DCR.  The Brown Paper Bag Project provides lunches for about 18 to 21 clients every month, some who do not have access to a healthy meal on regular basis.  Each lunch consists of a hot sandwich or patty, a fruit snack, chips, an apple,  and juice.  Members meet  on the evening prior to  court to decorate bags with inspirational messages and pack lunches. These packed lunches are then delivered to the Department for distribution at court.

Ready, Set, Snack

The Annual "Ready, Set, Snack!" initiative began in 2016 and partners with local, non-profit Feed Our Future who's mission is to solve childhood hunger and support intellectual nourishment in the Cayman
Islands. During the month of August our snack drive collects snacks as well as monetary funds from the community through store collection dates and office drives. A list of healthy snacks (approved by a nutritionist) is shared with the community and encouraged as the main
source of snacks to be collected. These snacks are then distributed to those in need at various schools. A snack for a child can enhance their learning potential. %100 of the proceeds raised are given to
Feed our Future to purchase more snacks or hot lunch meals for the children. Recipients of the snacks are determined on a need-base by Feed our Future.
